Alaska has wide variances of temperature and conditions during the riding season. Initially, I thought the bobber jacket might be a shoulder seasons jacket only (spring and fall), but after riding it through the season its a very versatile jacket:
-Hot Days (65+ F): zip halfway and fold inner and outer collars outward for max airflow. Forearm zipper open.
-Slightly Cool (50 - 64 F): zip 3/4 and keep inner collar against chest. Forearm zipper optional.
-Cold Day/highway cruising (39 - 49 F): fully zipped both chest and forearm.
- Near freezing (35-38 F): fully zipped both chest and forearm, add base layer.
- Winter (-10-28 F): can't ride but will wear without armor, add hoodie underneath.
Here in Alaska, we get tons of rain and tons of bugs- something about this leather sheds light rain/water quite a bit and is easy to wipe off bugs with a microfiber cloth and some water. I ride almost daily and been in many light to moderate rain conditions and the bobber jacket hasn't needed a conditioner treatment yet; even through daily post-insect cemetery cleaning sessions. By now, my other leather jackets would've needed at least 2 conditioner treatments. This is a testament to the quality of the leather chosen by GoldTop.
The liner hasn't broken down on me yet- the stitching and material is still holding. I tend to break liners often in other jackets, but this one is still holding strong. It's warm, but not too warm where some venting as described above won't prevent you from overheating.
Joe took care of me and sold me some level 2 Knox Microlock armor to match the back armor I also bought for the Bobber and everything fits perfectly in the armor pockets. No detectable shifting- it lays perfectly over my spine, elbows, and shoulders. I am very confident that the AAA rated leather and level 2 armor inserts are the very best I can wear if, God forbid, I ever crash.
Fit wise- with armor in, is spot on. I wear a 42 in my suit jackets/blazers. Dad bod here at 190 lbs and 5'9". I ordered a 42 and it's a perfect fit, fitted around the stomach but not tight. Perfect on the shoulders. Sleeves are perfect length on and off the bike. Length of jacket is great when seated upright or leaned forward, perfect as well. I can wear a light hoodie under the jacket and fully zip it up though it is more snug but still not too tight to be uncomfortable.
This jacket travels with me all over the state of AK even when I'm not riding and I get compliments nearly weekly about how unique and cool the bobber jacket is. Be prepared to say things like:
"Thank you, yes I like it too."
"It's an English brand: GoldTop, you gotta get it online."
"No, it's not a thousand dollars."
"Yes, they ship here."
The quality stands out a mile. Leather is beautifully soft & doesn't need wearing in, perfect the 1st time I put it on. Gloves to match the jacket & colour is perfect match.
Fantastic! The look! The quality! All top notch!
Simply superlative.
Just got the bobber jacket and it is super soft high quality
I wanted to share some thoughts about my recent purchase—the Bobber jacket in brown, order #30952. First, let me say how impressed I am by its design; the jacket is incredibly beautiful, and the gold liner is simply stunning. It’s warm and versatile, making it perfect for both Fall and Spring, and even suitable for winter if you’re riding lightly. The leather is exceptionally thick—much more so than my jackets from BMW, Dainese, Bilt, First Manufacturing, and others—which adds to its premium feel.
However, I’ve been having some trouble with the stitching. In several spots, the stitching keeps coming off, and I find myself needing to burn the cords with a lighter in hopes of stopping them from unraveling any further. Unfortunately, in some areas, particularly in the middle section, the stitching is coming loose entirely, and using a lighter doesn’t help. While I truly appreciate the craftsmanship and style, this issue has made me hesitant to purchase the 76 Cafe, which I’ve also had my eye on.
I have brought this to your attention in hopes that it could be addressed, as it’s the only thing holding me back from being completely satisfied with the jacket—and from considering another purchase. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

At a time when chicken no longer tastes like chicken, it's absolutely unbelievable that something like this is being made. I'm excited with the quality of jacket, and the communication with customer, even though I'm miles away.
Very good customer service.

I love this jacket, you won’t regret it if you buy one! I could stop the review there but I should probably expand. Perfect fit, true to size with enough room underneath for a couple of layers too. Arm length is great (I’m 6’4 & have long levers). The leather is thick, supple & flexible, the zips are the best I’ve ever tried & as for the lining, it’s soft & adds real luxury to the jacket. The small details really make this special though, like the red suede lining to the collar & of course the additional advice on the label, if you know you know. In summary, a real treat & excellent value, highly recommended.
The cut of the jacket fits nicely with the addition of armor. The quality of the material is high. All of the metal components are well-made. Only complaint is the stitch length is inconsistent in places and they messed up the stitching on the lapel so there's a series of linear holes in the leather. This should not compromise the integrity of the garment though so on most points I'm happy.
A fantastic jacket, leather is sturdy and supple, colouring is vibrating and smooth in person, would recommend trying on in person if possible as I had to try different sizes and styles Goldtop offers to find something that works for me

Just received my jacket my god the quality is something else it’s so flexible and soft well worth every penny you won’t get any better .
This is my fourth purchase I have two pairs of gloves fantastic quality again.
If you want quality goldtop is the place to shop
A fantastic jacket, superb quality, very soft. It is a heavy item, as its the real deal, as a motorcycle jacket.
Received the jacket quickly, overwhelmed with the quality and workmanship. Heirloom quality peice. Fit is perfect. Highly highly recommend purchasing one you will not be disappointed. Looking forward to purchasing more goldtop products. 10 outa 10 boys.
Fantastic quality the fit perfect and I couldn’t be happier
I really liked the feel and quality of the jacket and wanted to keep it, but even after taking all of the recommended measurements the jacket was just too small in the waist and too long in the sleeves. The oxblood color also arrived as more of a chocolate color. Word of warning for those purchasing from the US: Fedex hit me with an additional 25% duty ($130) to bring the jacket in and then I had to pay another $100 to ship it back - not Goldtop's fault at obviously, but certainly something that would have swayed my purchase from the start.
Have absolutely no doubts about this beautiful piece of leatherwork! The quality is 1000% and the price represents extremely good value! Fit and finish is exceptional and it is such a huge pleasure to buy something in this day and age that shouts quality. Goldtop never fail to source and produce outstanding items for the motor cyclist and fashion hunter! Thanks for the seamless sale and quality.
This jacket is wonderful. It is of the utmost highest quality. It needs no break-in. Very supple. And the service at Gold top is extraordinary. I can't say enough good about the jacket or the service.
If you are looking for classic, timeless styling, look no further than Goldtop. This gorgeous Bobber Jacket in Waxed Brown is a case in point. The quality of construction has no rival, and I've had a few leather jackets over the years. The attention to detail is superb, from the leather quilted shoulders on the exterior to the gold quilted lining on the interior. One not only feels like a million bucks in this jacket, but you might also feel like you been transported back to an age of pure, analog motorcycling joy.
Goldtop - raising the standards of riders everywhere, one rider at a time.
It looks amazing, smells amazing, and feel amazing. Very protective, all zippers can be used with gloves on, and the overlapping flap offers some protection even when not fully zipped. Aside from my bike, this jacket is the thing I get the most comments on when riding.
I was looking for a retro style leather jacket with quality and safety a must. When I came across Goldtop I was reminded of my first and best pair of leather boots from the late 70's made by Goldtop so I knew quality was assured. Jacket is superb quality with excellent discreet protection fitted. Delighted with my purchase ☺️
Stunning quality
Beautiful jacket.
This company produce incredible products. I saw them recommended on you tube and bought a jacket wondering for the price what compromises there would be - circa £450 being below the middle of what a leather jacket can cost today but being impressed by the AAA rating. I wish I had the words. Superb - I’ve owned numerous different brands over the years and this is the best I’ve seen. If you’re contemplating buying don’t hesitate.
This is a great quality jacket it’s so beautiful It seems to good to wear on the motorbike, I will definatly be buying more quality motorcycling items from here get yourselves to bishop Stortford for me it was a 300 mile round trip but it was worth it
