Sizing guides
How to find your size in our jackets, gloves and boots. Men's jackets are sized by chest measurement in inches. Women's jackets follow UK dress sizes. Gloves are sized by the measurement around your hand. If you are between two jacket sizes, we recommend the larger.
Men's jackets
Finding your jacket size (men)
We do our best to ensure that the majority of our leather motorcycle jackets fit true to size. All of our styles are available to try on at our store in Bishop's Stortford, however if instead you would prefer to order online, please observe the following advice to help best determine which size to go for.
Use our jacket size calculator
Enter your chest, waist and height, and it recommends your size in our men's jackets. It is the most accurate way to find your Goldtop size, and it takes about a minute.
How to measure
- To calculate your size, first measure around your chest at the widest point in inches, and that will indicate which size to go for.
- If you are slightly over a certain size (for example a 44.5" rather than a 44"), or plan to wear the jacket with a sweater underneath, we would always recommend upsizing.
If you know that you have particularly odd measurements, such as large gut or long arms (and don't worry, we've pretty much seen it all over the years!) then just get in touch! We are always more than happy to provide more exact measurements for each style.
Below is a rough guide to our jacket sizing for each size, which are all based on the same general fit.

- All sizes above are in inches and are either suggestions (depicted by "Your") or are actual measurements. To convert to centimetres, multiply by 2.54.
- Please note the sizes are a rough generalisation and may differ slightly from above due to the differences in each jackets design and stitching tolerances. Please contact support@goldtop.co.uk if you are still unsure of which size to go for.
If you are still unsure, we would be more than happy to help further, or alternatively, feel free to purchase one of each size and then simply return one (or both) jackets back to us for a refund, in line with our Returns Policy.
Women's jackets
Finding your jacket size (women)
We do our best to ensure that the majority of our leather motorcycle jackets fit true to size. All of our styles are available to try on at our store in Bishop's Stortford, however if instead you would prefer to order online, please observe the following advice to help best determine which size to go for.
How to measure
- Measure around your bust at the fullest part.
- Measure your waist around the natural waistline.
- Measure around your hips, typically 20cm below your natural waistline. Please take all measurements in inches.
We have provided a "Your Size" guide to help you determine the best size to go for based upon your own measurements. Your actual measurements will most likely be different from those in the table, so please remember that this is only a guide! If in doubt, please go up a size.
The best way to determine your size, would be to go off the jacket measurements that are given below in CM. These measurements have been taken with the jacket laid flat and are typically the most accurate to go off of. When comparing these measurements to an existing jacket that you own, please take into consideration the thickness of our leather and linings.
| Jacket size | UK 6 | UK 8 | UK 10 | UK 12 | UK 14 | UK 16 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bust (jacket laid flat) | 44cm | 46cm | 48cm | 50cm | 52cm | 54cm |
| Waist (jacket laid flat) | 39cm | 41cm | 43cm | 45cm | 47cm | 49cm |
| Hips (jacket laid flat) | 44cm | 46cm | 48cm | 51cm | 53cm | 55cm |
| Your bust | 32" | 33" | 35" | 37" | 39" | 41" |
| Your waist | 25" | 26" | 28" | 30" | 31" | 33" |
| Your hips | 34" | 35" | 37" | 39" | 41" | 43" |
Our women's jackets are also made in UK 18 and UK 20. For measurements in those sizes, please get in touch.
If you are still unsure, or would like additional measurement information, please feel free to get in touch!
Alternatively, we are more than happy for you to purchase one of each size and then simply return one (or both) jackets back to us for a refund, in line with our Returns Policy.
How each jacket fits
Every jacket in a size is cut from the same general pattern, but a few styles are cut a little differently. This is the same fit note you will see beside the size buttons on each jacket's page.
| Jacket | Fit |
|---|---|
| The '76 Cafe Racer, Bobber, 1958, 1959, 617, 619 Rebel, '72 Easy Rider and Lancer, and the women's Bobber and '76 | True to size, moderately slim. |
| The '68 Cafe Racer | True to size, moderately slim. Expandable panels behind each shoulder let the back open up, ideal for wider torsos. |
| The Flat Tracker and Flat Tracker Airflow | True to size, moderately slim. Slightly longer in the arms and body, ideal for taller riders. |
| The Patrol and the '74 Scuftuf | True to size, with a longer and more relaxed fit than the rest of our range. |
| The RAF and B-6 sheepskin flying jackets | A more relaxed fit. Made in sizes 32" to 54". |
On any jacket's page, "Find your size" next to the size buttons gives a recommendation for that jacket.
Gloves
Finding your glove size
To find your glove size, measure around your palm and knuckles at the widest point (not including thumb) with a tape measure. This measurement in inches is your glove size.
Our gloves are true to size against your hand circumference. Between sizes? Size up for a roomier fit, or size down for a snugger, more precise feel.
If you are still unsure, you can always call us on +44 (0)208 088 4840 and we will gladly do our best to help.
We will always happily exchange any gloves for a different size or refund provided that gloves are returned in saleable condition within 30 days of purchase, in line with our Returns Policy.
Glove sizes vary between styles, so check the hand measurement shown on each glove's own size buttons.

Sizing questions
Do Goldtop jackets run small or large?
Most of our jackets fit true to size, with a moderately slim cut. The Patrol and '74 Scuftuf are longer and more relaxed, and the sheepskin flying jackets are a more relaxed fit.
I am between two sizes. Which should I choose?
Take the larger size. We also recommend sizing up if you plan to wear the jacket with a sweater underneath.
How do I measure for a men's jacket?
Measure around your chest at the widest point, in inches. That measurement indicates your jacket size, so a 42" chest takes a 42" jacket. For the most accurate answer, use our size calculator.
How do I find my glove size?
Measure around your palm and knuckles at the widest point, not including your thumb. That measurement in inches is your glove size. Between sizes? Size up for a roomier fit, or size down for a snugger, more precise feel.
Can I try a jacket on before I buy?
Yes. Every style is available to try on at The Goldtop Shop in Bishop's Stortford, open Friday to Sunday. Or order two sizes online and return the one that does not fit, in line with our returns policy.
Can I exchange for a different size?
Yes. Return the item unworn, in its original condition, within 30 days of receiving it and we will exchange it or refund you. Start it on our returns portal, and see our returns policy for the details.
